Highlife musician Gregory Promise Bortey Newman popularly known as King Promise has recounted how he met his favorite Rapper Sarkodie and that brought him to the limelight.
According to him, Sarkodie was his favorite in the music industry, with his encounter, he was pushing on for Sarkodie to help his friend, Kuvi who is a sound engineer.
In an interview on 'Atuu' show with Abeiku Santana, he narrated " A friend of mine, kuvi and I saw sarkodie parked his car infront of a shop so i told kuvi to let us go and talk to him so he could listen to some of kuvi's beats. Kuvi on the other hand declined saying he was shy so i took challenge and went to talk to sarkodie. Just when i approached him, i told him i'm his biggest fan and that my friend has produced some beats i want him to listen to since thats was the initial plan," he narrated.
The 'CCTV' hitmaker stressed how he was amazed of the gesture Sarkodie shown them, saying, "Sarkodie agreed and came with us, we played him some beats of which he was jamming to and later I made a freestyle on a beat we were working on, after listening to my freestyle could not hide his excitement and then took his phone to take me some pictures and videos and started posting it on his social media handles."
King Promise added that he lost his contact with both Sarkodie and Kuvi but he was still traced back by Sarkodie.
"After sometime, i lost contact with both Kuvi and Sarkodie for close to 3 weeks, I went out morning to buy waakye when a car pulled close to me and it was Sarkodie in the car, he told me to get into his car and we were reconnected," he said.
He however added that Sarkodie got him signed to his current record label and his manager.
"I got signed to Legacy life record label and met my manager, Ohene through Sarkodie," he added.
